I've been shopping for an M3 as a fun car for a while now. It's mainly going to be for track days and weekends. I'm extremely pick as I want an Interlagos or Lemans blue exterior, Fox red or caramel (or other similar colors) interior, it has to be an LCI E90, must have idrive, and most importantly, IT HAS TO BE A 6MT. I've found many cars that meet all requirements, except the transmission. I can't be flexible on the transmission at all, as I want a manual and so does my brother, who will be sharing the car on track days.
In the picture above, the M3 ticks all the boxes. Lemans blue, fox red, carbon leather trim, everything right? No, it's missing the most important part. The third pedal seems to have disappeared. Luckily for me, the price is a little high compared to the mileage so there's no chance I'll be seduced into buying a DCT (even though they are fantastic transmissions).
Post pictures of the car you've been eyeing lately. I'd love to see the diverse taste we all have on Oppo.

One of these hopefully. Actually, this:
But that's a part.
Anyways, with regards to the Miata: I'm hoping to buy a house at the end of this year/next January. Once I do, I'm going to try to pick up a cheap NA Miata. Probably around $2000. If it runs, it's good enough. I don't even care if it has a top, it's just going to sit in my garage on bad days.

Edit: Yes I am aware it's a 930 in the picture

It's going to be a while but at the top of my list is...
ATS or CTS depending on interior space (and how many kids I have to put in it at that point)
and the new Colorado/Canyon (hopefully the Canyon!)
It's a long ways out but I always buy used so I look at the new cars now to plan my future purchases lol. Truck vs Car is very dependent on how close I live to work too.

I got lucky. My brother is looking for a car he can take out to the track without needing a trailer, and I was looking for a weekend car that I could autocross. We both drive/have owned BMW's so we decided we could share an M3 as neither of us plan on using the next car we buy as a DD and were gonna be living together anyways.

A Golf R. Color isn't that important, as long as it's not red. And I'd like to have the sunroof package if I can find one for a good price with it. Has to be a 4-door though.

Nice choice. I had a little obsession with these when I first saw one in person. It's a damn shame, guy in my neighborhood has one and curbs it everytime he parks... "I got a good deal on it, and they didn't have any new S5's in my budget so I thought what the hell"

I've been looking heavy at 71-72 Chevy Cheyenne pickups. Looking for a small block, auto, 2wd, half ton(C10) rust free truck. Would love to find a SWB but most are Lwb but my grandpa has shortened about 4 of these trucks and the last one you couldn't tell it was once a long box.

Problem is that i'm not too familiar with the new 4 cylinder besides what i've learned from the e-training courses we've taken. We'll see when it gets here buddy. I want a V60 R-Design T-6 AWD. Graduating college in less than a year and will be gifted something (yes, I'm lucky and thankful) shortly upon acceptance to graduate school, so something new or new-ish that's comfortable for a likely highway commute. I'm thinking about a VW Jetta 1.8 TSI or 2.0 TDI value edition, the upcoming Mk VII Golf or the Sportwagen. Ford Fusion as well. Maybe a gently used Volvo S60 or even a Buick Regal GS if it's a good deal. They're all European or European-inspired cars (Fusion -> Mondeo, Regal -> Insignia), which is my preference. All somewhat reliable with not too expensive maint.

Yeah I got really mad when I talked to him. Just this morning I saw him slide a little bit on some ice/slush and we ran into each other at the mailboxes. *"jeeze I don't get how I'm sliding around. This is AWD. Good lucking getting THAT to work without crashing." He says to me this morning while he's on nearly bald performance tires that were probably on the car since he first bought it.

Hopefully I will be able to find an FD3 RX-7 that meets all my requirements, but it's hard to find them in good shape for a realistic price. Basically I just keep a list of a few possible next cars and grab whichever comes up at the right time... which the right time won't be until I replenish money reserves from the latest 240Z build.

The fact that I'm no longer interested in making it a personal challenge to post a top speed on every road I drive on. In all honesty, I'm 25 and I have a good job and I'm getting to the point where I want a little refinement in my life. I don't want to hear and feel every gear change, every little sound that the engine makes, or every rock that I drive over. Not to mention that there's no way I could possibly make the most of a WRX on the street, let alone Brembos, a 6-speed, stiffer suspension, and wider tires on the STI. My wife and dog would also appreciate these things.
My friend just bought an A5 and I was floored by the engine refinement, the shifter, the suspension, and the quality of the interior. After that, I went to a VW dealership and test drove a GLI (Golf R on the lot sold just before we got there) which met and exceeded my expectations. I remember saying to my friend "hey... shh... do you hear that?........ I can hear myself think!"
In all honesty, your friends are right. You'll get more out of an STI for the price, but will you ever use it? I decided that I never would.

Unreasonable dream: 205 GTi. I couldn't insure one, thanks to their reputation for illicit relations with hedges, ditches, trees and lampposts, but there's a lot of want there.
More realistic next car choices:
Peugeot 406 coupe. It's cheap, utterly beautiful, and reasonably practical.
Pre-2006 Civic Type S. They're cheap, fun, practical and fairly fast.
Ford SportKA. Cheaper still, and just as - if not more - fun. Slightly less practical, and not nearly as nice to sit in.

I may have to do just that. It's just.. they're expensive, so I'll likely go CPO either way. I don't want to give up our truck, I'm not giving up my Evo, I'd like to hold onto the Sportwagen if we can, and our Honda is long in the tooth; it'll also depend on if my wife keeps commuting, too, or if she switches careers. Then it'll be easier to justify the Q7 in lieu of the beater Honda.

That was basically my point to them. One of them is all about BMW and hates how "crude" Japanese cars are (his words, not mine) and he shoulda been the first person on the R train! People get too hung up on the fact that all that tech is stuffed into a Golf.

They think the the fender flares and the big wing set it apart I guess.
I've only ever owned Japanese cars. I think they're a bit more connected actually. But I can see how someone who's never owned one could find it a bit too "raw".

When I was a bit younger, I drafted a wish list of cars I'd like to one day own. But I did it in stages, with certain realistic budgets in mind. Think of it as a slow progression, as an experience of perpetual incremental happiness as I move from interesting car to interesting car. So far so good. I'm on car #4, and purchased car #5 this past Saturday. Bits of metal that I've been able to tick off include: Cop Car (RWD Grand Cherokee), BMW E30 Convertible (1990 325i), BMW E30 Coupe (1987 325is), GTI (2007 6-speed GTI 3DR), 911 (2000 996 GT3 Aero Cup). It took me 2.5 years to find the car (911), and now that I found it, I can't drive it. Because I live in Raincouver and the roads are still quite icy. Anyways, no big deal, my DD is a 1987 325is Coupe - an absolute peach... and on the list!
An E9x M3 is on the list as well. I only have two experiences in those, each one of them frightening. Once behind the wheel of an E92 M3 GTP race car at Bedford, UK and once in a brand spanking new Alpine White E92 that I nearly mucked up when going flatout around a long bend with ALL Dynamic Traction Control settings left on. Mental mental thing.
So, in no particular order:
2011+ BMW M3 E92 Melbourne Red Competition
Some sort of Chevy or Dodge 1500 pickup
Porsche 997.1 GT3
E63 BMW M6 6-speed and updated iDrive (extremely rare)
Mercedes Benz CLK63 AMG Black
LP670-4 SV

I know that though, I'm considering a Mercedes-Benz 240D/300D (maybe W123, but hopefully W114), a Volvo 240/740/940/850 wagon (non-turbo, for reliability), or perhaps a Saab 900 OG of any body style (non-turbo again for reliability).
It's impossible not to buy Hot Wheels and Matchbox, but I don't exactly buy everything I see, nor do I look for $100 1:18-scale models.

I actually haven't. I have no idea what they cost right now.
I'll probably get my first car when I have about $4k-$6k saved up or so.
I'd prefer a W115 coupe or sedan (as in 6-cylinder ones, 4-cylinder ones were the W114s) but carbs are a known problem with them.
I'm also intrigued by Volkswagen Sciroccos and early (1st gen) Rabbits/GTIs, as well as Toyota Cressidas, Lexus IS300s, Mazda 929s and BMW E21s, though I know next to nothing about their characteristics.

I'm a bmw enthusiast, I can try to help you out. For $6k you can pick up an E46 coupe or sedan that's in reliable shape and still looks nice. If you save up around $10k you can probably get a late model ZHP, which is basically a sport package but it got tons of cool features, full Alcantra interior, sunroof delete option, etc.
